How to Find a Good Book for Older Kids

Are you looking to buy a good fictional novel for older kids? If so, the genre would likely fall in the “young adult” market that usually targets readers between the ages of 12-18–sometimes a little older or younger, depending on the book. Amazon has a great forum where customers have compiled a record of over 5,000 young adult books, both new and old, and you can instantly see the reviews, prices, covers and descriptions of the posted novels. Additionally, this “Young Adult Community” contains discussion boards, recently tagged books (tags are basically keywords customers use to categorize products), and about 1,200 guides and lists related to the same target audience.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

It looks like the holidays are finally here for 2008…

I have to get my act together and take care of my shopping before the end of December creeps up on me…

(What’s on my list? Books, clothes, tech gear)

December 1st and the astonishing sight in the sky

For all those lucky enough to see it, there was a great sight of the moon, Jupiter, and Venus on December 1st.

CONSTELLATION CHRONICLES

THE LOST CIVILIZATION OF ARIES

COME FLY AWAY AND JOIN THE QUEST!

A blinding fireball rips across the night sky and slams into a field in the remote town of Rigel, New Mexico. Glenn Sawyer, a broke and disillusioned 18-year-old, witnesses and investigates the crash, finding a surreal craft and an even stranger monkey-like creature named Paako, who secretly follows him home and stirs trouble. As Glenn captures Paako and attempts to return her to the crash site, he discovers unexpected company, and learns that his remarkable journey—filled with adventure, evil, and cast of captivating characters—has only just begun.

The Hulk

I wonder if the newest Hulk remake is better than the previous film?  Edward Norton  seems like a good pick, but it’s hard to tell from the trailers alone.

I suppose I’ll wait for the DVD.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

I’ve seen a lot of ads for The Day the Earth Stood Still, but I haven’t come across any reviews of the film.

I’m still undecided as to whether I should see the movie in the theater or wait until it hits DVD.

Iron Man II

I’m still wondering if they are going to make an Iron Man II.

Given the success of the first film–and the great reviews, too–I’d be surprised if they didn’t.

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen

It looks like the new Transformers movie will be subtitled Revenge of the Fallen (it’s release is scheduled for 6/26/09). It will be directed by Michael Bay, and the starring actors will be Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Rainn Wilson, and John Turturro.

Given the success of the first film, the expectations for Transformers II will be quite high.
